top10: Bangkok

Welcome to the final top10 post!

I flew home from Bangkok, via Singapore, so this marks the end of my travels. At least for the time being. There is still a huge amount of the world that I haven’t written about so the blog will continue, but there probably won’t be any more top10 features for a while.

For those new to the top10 series on this blog; a quick recap of the rules:

  • I will upload ten photos from each country I’ve visited.
  • I will only include photos that I have taken myself.
  • I will exclude any photos that deliberately use fakery, staging, or zoos.
  • The photos I upload are chosen because I think they show something particularly interesting, characteristic of the country, because they encapsulate a vivid memory I hold of that country, or just for being pretty.

Bangkok; the city of sin, but surprisingly pretty in parts.

#8 – You can buy anything on the streets of Bangkok
—————————————————————————————–

IMG_3780Seriously. Anything.

#7 – Golden Feet

#6 – Tuk Tuks

#5.1 & 5.2 – A boat trip
—————————————————————————————–

IMG_3836 IMG_3829Taking a boat trip along the main river and tributaries in Bangkok, I got to see incredibly beautiful temples and run down slums. The second photo above is in the old district of the city, somewhere between the extremes.

#4 – The entrance to Khao San
—————————————————————————————–

IMG_3757This was taken in the early hours of the morning. Khao San never sleeps, and is a great place to get some late night Pad Thai, or a bucket of the ever lethal Sangsom rum.

#3 – Wat Arun by night
—————————————————————————————–

IMG_3894One of the most important temples in Bangkok, Wat Arun looks stunning lit up at night. This was taken from the other side of the river, where I was sat with a good friend and a beer.

#2 – Nightlife

#1 – Wat Arun by day
—————————————————————————————–

IMG_3876The always spectacular Wat Arun. For a fee you can clamber up a set of steps which seems near vertical to the second ledge, about halfway up. Not for those suffering from vertigo.
